Ficus cordata is an attractive evergreen or semi-evergreen fig tree native to parts of southern and eastern Africa. It is well adapted to dry conditions and is particularly valued for its rugged trunk, attractive foliage, and ability to grow in rocky habitats.

Growing Tips

• 🌱 Sowing: Sprinkle the tiny seeds over the surface of a moist, well-draining seed-starting mix. Do not cover deeply.

• 💧 Moisture: Keep the medium lightly and consistently moist while avoiding waterlogging.

• ☀️ Light: Provide bright, indirect light initially, then gradually introduce direct morning sunlight.

• 🌡️ Temperature: Maintain 22–28°C for good germination.

• 🌿 Transplanting: Move seedlings into individual pots once they have developed several true leaves.

Germination: Usually 3–8 weeks under warm, consistently moist conditions. Fresh seed generally gives the best results.
