Zanthoxylum rugosum
Common names: Rugose Prickly Ash, Rough Prickly Ash, Toothache Tree, Wild Lime, Indian Prickly Ash.
Description: Zanthoxylum rugosum is a small to medium-sized aromatic tree or shrub in the citrus family (Rutaceae). It has thorny branches, glossy aromatic foliage, and small greenish-yellow flowers followed by small reddish-brown to dark fruits. The plant is valued as an ornamental and for its aromatic properties.
Germination tips:
- Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours before sowing.
- Sow about 0.5–1 cm deep in a well-draining seed mix.
- Keep the medium consistently moist but not waterlogged.
- Maintain around 20–28°C for germination.
- Germination can be slow and irregular, so keep the seedbed undisturbed for several weeks.
